Allplan 2009 – A BCM
I am a very loyal user of Autodesk Revit. It was in my first year that I came to know about the importance of Building Information Modeling in Architecture. It was ascending to a level where it had become more of a necessity, that a comfort for the Architects. All the Architectural firms seemed at that time to me, to have accepted the status and the requirement of such a handy tool for architects, in order to supply for the ever-growing demand of creating sustainable and sensible building-living environments.
Then the curious bug in me bit me hard. I was on my way to find a nice, comfy BIM environment to acquaint myself thoroughly and eventually settle with it for some time to come. Yes. It happened. I found Autodesk Revit. I learnt it and still I am in the process of discovering its capabilities and trying to get a firm hold on the software.
Till today, I knew about Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft Archicad and Microstation as the leading BIM tools in the AEC industry. Today I discovered this new tool which is quite popular in Europe by name Nemetschek Allplan 2009. They call it a BCM (Building Calculation & Modelling.. I guess) software. Check it out. It’s worth a look. Esp. the FAQ.
